Three Years of Audiobook Narration

It's been a few years and I decided to start writing blog posts again. I was listening to a random post about acting and how it takes 10 years till you really take off, or at least be comfortable in your skin as an actor. You keep working and honing your craft.

After 3 years of audiobook narration, I can say that I am still learning. I have produced over 24 audiobooks for indie authors and Learning Ally. I feel more confident in myself, but recognize I still have a long way to go.

I have always wanted to act. I would love to be in a historical drama one day, but my current life allows me to narrate and I am enjoying this journey.

I was recently chosen to narrate a YA fantasy novel about a girl who lives under a glacier. I am prepping the book and am very excited. There is nothing better than diving into a well written book and being able to bring the characters to life.

My booth has been working out well.  You can see my previous blog on building a booth. I actually ended up adding a layer of medium density fiberboard to the outside walls of the booth to cut down on traffic noise. I found some videos on youtube on how to make a vent box (baffle box) for ventilation that allows fresh air to flow in but keep noise out.

I need to put some kind of vent fan in there, but I want to wait till I a finished recording this Shattered Ice. Any changes could make my booth sound different.

What I’ve been working on

This week has been busy, but I managed to revise 3 chapters of book 4 of The Dragon Keeper Chronicles. It's coming along nicely. I hope...
